Opinion: School start time change has a major impact on academic and social lives of students [Opinion]

I have been playing soccer since I was 4 years old, and am currently playing for Elite Clubs National League’s Rebels 2004-2005 team. I love my sport so much it is my great passion. However, later school start times, which are being implemented all around San Diego County because of state law, have made it difficult for me and my teammates to be able to practice. Practice starts at 4:30 p.m., and the new schedule has made many of us late, but timing hasn’t been our only issue.
I have had many conversations with some of my teachers about the new time change. Some of them have told me they are not fond of the change either.
