When Democrats took control of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors after the November 2020 election, one of their first policy shifts came in efforts to. The need was obvious when looking at an epidemic of addiction, the physical and mental health toll of the COVID-19 pandemic and signs that so many, especially young people, were struggling with symptoms of depression.
The subsequent creation of Mobile Crisis Response Teams and expansion of addiction treatment options helped many San Diegans.
