I had only really felt sick for about three months when I got there. I experienced a sudden inability to swallow one day while devouring a quarter-pound hot dog. I’ve lived alone for many years, and I eat like a pig — too big of a bite and too little effort toward actually chewing my food. This damn hot dog seemed hellbent on killing me.
