," : Your editorial seems to be, not surprisingly, spun against U.S. Big Tech, not China.
While it is a well-known fact that Big Tech tries to “spy” on us at every opportunity and should have some limitations, it is quite disingenuous and inflammatory to throw the Chinese TikTok app into the same bucket with Amazon, Facebook, Google, Apple, Twitter and other U.S.-based applications. While they all likely seek the same or similar personal information, U.S. tech’s motivation is likely greed for information that will increase their bottom line by sending advertisements and other bait that results in purchases of one sort or another. Conversely, TikTok and possibly other apps that we haven’t even determined yet seem to have another intent: to spy on the U.S.
So, to lump them all together with no acknowledgment of their diametrically opposed intent is purely a continued attack on U.S. tech, using China to add fuel to your fire.
