The national constabulary is investigating how the SNP spent donations intended for a second independence referendum campaign.
Police Scotland has spent more than half a million pounds on staffing costs for Operation Branchform since the investigation was set-up almost two years ago.
It has led to three senior Nationalists - including Nicola Sturgeon - being quizzed by cops before being later released without charge. Iain Livingstone, who will soon retire as Chief Constable of Police Scotland, insisted last month that Operation Branchform was being conducted with “integrity”.

Police Scotland have closed roads on the A86 between Laggan and Spean Bridge and also on the B863 between Glencoe and Kinlochleven after torrential rain and thunderstorms sparked two huge landslides. Drivers will be forced on a 112-mile diversion through Fort Augustus, Invergarry, Invermoriston and Drumnadrochit to Inverness in north and southbound directions. A spokesperson said: 'Dramatic scenes on the B863 last night as GMR came to the aid of a stricken driver. 'During a period of localised heavy downpours yesterday evening, there were a number of landslides on the 'high road' between Glencoe and Kinlochleven. 'Our volunteers were requested by police to attend to assist a lone motorist who had become trapped between two slides. 'Team members were able to quickly access the scene, covering a short distance on foot before helping the driver to safety.' Network Rail also announced that floodwater from a landslide made its way onto the railway and washed away stone that supports the track and the West Highland Line will be closed between Roy Bridge and Tulloch until at least Thursday morning. A Police Scotland spokesperson for the force said: 'Police Scotland would like to advise that due to landslides, there is a road closure on the A86 between Laggan and Spean Bridge. The B863 is also closed between Glencoe and Kinlochleven, known locally as the 'high road.' 'Diversions are in place and the public are asked to avoid the area if possible.'
