6 Discontinued Sport Sedans That Need to Make a ComebackKia's breakout sport sedan is the most recent model that we're sad to see go. The Korean company confirmed that the Stinger will cease production in April of 2023 after abysmal sales. Originally launched in 2017, the model was aimed at legacy competitors like the BMW 3-Series and Audi A4, but the sporting nature of the model made it a shocking introduction to a typically German-dominated market. And with a 368-hp twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6, the GT models were no slouch either. The offerings varied over the five-year model run, but the general formula was a base model powered by a turbocharged inline-four and a GT trim model powered by a twin-turbo V6. Most recently, pricing started at $37,435 for the base model and went up to $52,635 for the top-of-the-line GT2 model. When the model launched, the base model went for as low as $32,800, a bargain at any rate. Once you got behind the wheel, the Stinger wasn't perfect but it still possessed a feeling that went beyond economy sedan character. V6-equipped models were rocket-like off the line, and the ability to slide around was augmented by a Torsen limited-slip differential. It wasn't nearly as composed as the competing BMW on a curvy back road, but its handling chops were plenty adequate for most road-going drivers. In fact, it felt much more like a muscle sedan\u2014tire destruction and a heavy curb weight included. Ultimately, a lack of interior refinement, nimbleness, and overall style made the model less desirable than its challengers, though Kia deserves recognition for going out on a limb by making an affordable sport sedan. We'd love to see it come back, with a new suspension setup and a manual transmission, perhaps.
