'The sea between Northern Ireland and Scotland is a challenging and unpredictable environment and conquering it in record time was an extraordinary challenge'
Two Olympians who set sail from NI to Scotland to ‘shine a light on climate change’ have smashed a Guinness World Record.
Gimson added: “The sea between Northern Ireland and Scotland is a challenging and unpredictable environment, and conquering it in record time was an extraordinary challenge. We couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve accomplished together.” The Team GB sailors have been coached by CEO of Belfast’s Artemis Technologies, Dr Iain Percy, a former Olympian and foiling craft builder who aims to decarbonise the maritime sector.
Speaking about their commitment to environmental causes, Ms Burnet added: “As sailors, we have a deep connection to the sea, and we’ve witnessed first hand the impact of climate change on our oceans. It’s crucial that we raise awareness about these issues and inspire action to protect our planet.”
