Does this video show a lion roaming the streets of Khartoum? The video was widely shared as fierce fighting in Sudan has plunged the nation into chaos. But MaryKulundu found the video is old and was filmed in Libya.

Authorities later rescued the lion.The ongoing conflict in Sudan broke out on April 15, 2023, between forces loyal to army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and his deputy-turned-rival Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, who commands the powerful paramilitary Rapid Support Forces .

Burhan and Daglo's bitter dispute is centred around the planned integration of the RSF into the regular army -- a key condition for a final deal aimed at restoring Sudan's democratic transition.of airstrikes in Khartoum as the deadly fighting entered its 13th day. Foreign governments from all corners of the globe have organised road convoys, aircraft and ships to get thousands of their people out of Sudan, while citizens have fled overland to neighbouring countries.
