Ohio’s death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 38,493, up 65 since last week's report.

on Thursday reported 11,013 new cases of COVID-19 in its weekly dashboard update. That is the highest number of new cases since the state switched to weekly updates of COVID-19 case numbers in March.

The cases reported over the last week averages out to about 1,573 new cases per day over seven days, up from 443 per day for the week ending March 31.Ohio’s death toll since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 38,493, up 65 since the last report. A total of 7,314,770 Ohioans have received at least one vaccination, representing about 66.5% of Ohioans age 5 and up.

Since the beginning of 2021, there have been 23,609 deaths among people reported as unvaccinated, and 1,263 among people reported to be fully vaccinated. And there have been 67,012 hospitalized Ohioans who were not fully vaccinated, and 4,560 fully vaccinated people hospitalized.The total cases being reported recently likely are understated, as some people do not report at-home tests and others may not be testing at all.* Total reported hospitalizations: 115,481, up 296.
