Alexander Kush, 25, of Oak Forest, was crushed to death Monday in an industrial accident at Sambor Stone Co., in South Holland when a load of granite slabs landed on him, authorities said.

Alexander Kush, of the 14700 block of El Vista Avenue, suffered “multiple crush injuries” as a result of a “collapse of stone slabs” according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.South Holland firefighters and paramedics were called at about 10:30 a.m. Monday to Sambor Stone Co., 15527 S. LaSalle St., for a fatal industrial accident, according to a statement from the village.
Kush and other employees were unloading slabs of granite from a container trailer when the load shifted and landed on him, according to the village.The Fire Department called for assistance from the local Combined Agency Response Team, which specializes in technical rescues, according to the village.
Kush was pronounced dead at the scene just before 11 a.m. and the cause of death was an accident, according to the medical examiner’s office.
