The officers had pulled over the SUV, suspecting it was stolen, at Tuskegee Airmen Way and Sutphin Boulevard just after 11:30 p.m.
As one officer walked to the vehicle, the driver took off, striking him and sending him rolling over the hood of the carThe officer was checked out for minor injuries at Jamaica Medical Center.Police are still searching for the vehicle, described as a white 2018 Subaru SUV with New York license plates."The police shouldn't fire a shot because this is our community, and this is how we're supposed to live," the resident said. "You could hurt innocent people in my area also.
The Bronx district attorney said the officer fired while multiple people were walking on the street, creating a risk of injury for others.
