A Queens man could face decades behind bars after admitting that he attempted to murder his wife by slamming his SUV against her and then stabbing her in front of their three children in 2022, the local district attorney said.
The woman suffered severe neurological damage, broken bones and a stab wound that punctured her liver. She has been unconscious since the December attack and remains under care, the district attorney's office said. Stephen Giraldo, 36, pleaded guilty Tuesday to attempted murder in the December 2022 attack, Queen District Attorney Melinda Katz said. He is expected to be sentenced to 25 years in prison on Oct. 6.
