Some of the animals were emaciated or foul-smelling while others had “obvious abnormalities” such as “facial fluid discharge,” according to a criminal complaint.Some needed immediate medical attention, according to court documents. A tipster alerted Councilwoman Joann Ariola to the alleged abuse, and within days, the NYPD, Queen’s District Attorney’s office and the ASPCA were involved.Authorities allegedly found 44 ill cats inside Haq’s home.Authorities removed cats from Haq’s house in Woodhaven, Queens.“This is something that should never take place – these are innocent, defenseless animals, and it was tragic to see images of them being kept in the shape they were in,” Ariola told The Post.
The charges are not bail eligible; she faces up to one year in jail.
