The charity warns the cost of living crisis will likely leave more families needing help this winter.
has said that during the festive period it expects a rise in the number of children disclosing abuse they have suffered.
A fifth of all annual cases, where young people revealed abuse for the first time, happened in December 2021 and January 2022. It has also raised concerns about the number of children needing support,"in particular for abuse and neglect, when the system is struggling to cope, and the cost-of-living crisis will likely leave more families needing help this winter".
Peter Wanless, chief executive of the NSPCC, said:"The Christmas holidays can be one of the most difficult times of the year for children, and they often need somewhere to go to confide."
