It's the news Splendour fans don't want to hear - but you'd better pack your rain ponchos and brollies rather than sun cream. The weekend weather forecast for Nottingham's biggest music event of the year is not looking good but a deluge hasn't stopped crowds from enjoying themselves in the past.
The weather hasn't had the best track record for Splendour with fans taking refuge under a tarpaulin sheet, under trees and in beer tent after a downpours in 2014, 2017 and 2019. Saturday , the opening day of the event in Wollaton Park, will start off cloudy but according to the Met Office there's a 60% chance of rain by 10am and by 1pm that increases to 90%.Between 7pm and 10pm there's a 60% chance of rain, so headliners Madness could well be performing to a 20,000-strong soggy crowd. Temperatures aren't expected to be much higher than 16C.
Sunday is looking slightly better but be prepared for sunshine and showers. The morning is set to be fine until 1pm when there is a 40% risk of rain, continuing throughout the afternoon and evening. It should be warmer than Saturday with highs of 20C between 1pm and 4pm.
