Latest Nottingham Forest news as Steve Cooper's Reds prepare for Premier League clash with Brentford
It has been an encouraging start to the season for Nottingham Forest as they reflect on their first six games.
A key feature of the plan, which is in line with the Premier League’s recently-introduced Fan Engagement Standard, is the creation of a Fan Advisory Board. This will be made up of six members from Nottingham Forest Supporters Trust, Nottingham Forest Supporters Club, Forza Garibaldi, Punjabi Forest, Nottingham Forest Disabled Supporters Association and Nottingham Forest North America, as well as two independent representatives.
The Reds’ opening run of away games looked daunting when the fixture list was released in the summer. The tests don’t necessarily get any easier, but Forest have emerged from a tricky sequence with cause for optimism - even though they didn’t get any points from trips to Arsenal, Manchester United and the Etihad Stadium.
The front man says he is benefitting from “striker meetings” before matches, when the attacking players exchange ideas about “how to beat the keeper, just the keeper”. And it seems a pledge Cooper made to the 26-year-old before he signed is also coming to fruition. “The meeting with the owner and Steve Cooper was something that really pushed me because, for me, I'm this guy that loves challenges because I challenge myself. But the statement that struck me was when Steve Cooper said to me, ‘I heard you’re going to other clubs in the Premier League, but I'll tell you, if you don't come to me, you will regret it’. And that was, for me, a big challenge. I really wanted to see what I would regret.
