Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as Steve Cooper's Reds target signings before summer window closes
It looks set to be a busy end to the transfer window at Nottingham Forest as next week’s deadline looms into view.
However, further ins and outs are expected in the final days of the window. Head coach Steve Cooper was set to speak to owner Evangelos Marinakis about potential business immediately after Friday night’s win over Sheffield United. The Welshman has been clear about his wish to welcome more arrivals, specifically referencing a preference for adding more “athleticism” and dynamism. Meanwhile, there remains a need to trim numbers by moving on some fringe players.
Questions also remain about the goalkeeping position. Bringing two shot-stoppers in was the aim, but trying to oversee a return for Dean Henderson - to go with the signing of Turner - has not been as easy as might initially have been expected. That particular saga has dragged on for most of the summer.
Shelvey is not the only potential departure. Namesake Jonjo Shelvey is out of favour and has been linked with Leeds United. The Championship side have also been credited with an interest in fellow midfielder Lewis O’Brien, who recently returned from a loan spell at DC United.
