A group of charities have also warned the system is in a perilous position
A Nottingham doctor has warned the NHS is in its worst crisis ever after alarms were raised by the country's leading charities. The Richmond Group of Charities, which includes Age UK, British Heart Foundation, and Macmillan Cancer Support, recently wrote to the Prime Minister to say systems were reaching a “crunch point” that would leave the NHS and social care services unable to respond to local needs.
"I don't have much optimism with the current Government policies. I think there needs to be effective policies in place to improve the NHS workforce, as morale is at a very low point. "There needs to be better communication from top to bottom to solve this issue, otherwise it is going to lead to patient harm - and that could be happening already."
"We will always do our very best to support both our colleagues and our patients this winter. We would like to reassure the public that the delivery of high quality and safe local health and care services remains one of our top priorities.”
