Countries are “worryingly off-track” to meet World Health Organization targets on obesity, the World Obesity Federation has said.

The WOF’s report, released to coincide with World Obesity Day on March 4, predicts that one in five adults will be obese by 2025. To tackle the issue, a Declaration for World Obesity Day has been drawn up by groups including the WOF, the Obesity Action Coalition, and the Obesity Medical Association. It calls upon governments to tackle the root causes of obesity, which involve designating it as a disease.
