A 'fairly large' ejection of space plasma could cause the light show to appear in our skies
The Met Office has predicted that the Northern Lights could dazzle across Scottish skies in the late hours of tonight into the early hours of tomorrow.
It comes after a "fairly large" Coronal Mass Ejection - which is when a magnetic field and plasma mass is shot out from the sun into space - occurred earlier this week."No significant enhancements are expected until later on 10 or early 11 May with the anticipated arrival of a fairly large Coronal Mass Ejection that left the sun late on 07 May.
To be able to see the Northern lights, Scots will need clear skies which could be the case for parts of the country as clouds are set to break this evening - however the spectacle could be spoiled by mist.
