Joao Vale de Almeida argues steps being taken by Boris Johnson's administration over the agreement are 'a road to nowhere', but secretary of state Brandon Lewis says action is needed to fix the 'substantial problems' caused by its implementation.

The row has created an impasse in efforts to form a devolved government administration in Belfast.

But Mr Vale de Almeida said:"I am afraid that the government's track is very probably, unfortunately, a road to nowhere and we would like to avoid that."NI protocol plan 'road to nowhere'
