A spokesperson said: “The council is aware of the fly-tip and it is part of an ongoing criminal investigation, evidence has been found and formal legal action will be taken against those responsible, where possible.”As the rubbish is on private land, the council is apparently working with the landowner to get it cleared.
Fly-tipping is a criminal offence that can result in fines of up to £50,000, or even an unlimited fine or custodial sentence if the case goes to crown court. “There is no excuse for not disposing of waste legally, it blights our communities and is a priority of the council to stamp it out,” the spokesperson added.
