Diana Cojocari and Christopher Palmiter in connection with the disappearance of Madalina Cojocari, according to police in Cornelius, N.C.
Madalina Cojocari, 11, was last seen at her home on the evening of Nov. 23. CORNELIUS, North Carolina — Police are searching for an 11-year-old girl who has been missing for nearly a month and the girl’s parents have been arrested after they failed to notify authorities.
Madalina Cojocari was last seen at her home on the evening of Nov. 23, according to a news release from Cornelius police. However, police say Madalina’s parents, mother Diana Cojocari, 37, and stepfather Christopher Palmiter, 60, did not report the girl missing until Dec. 15, eventually telling a school resource officer at Madalina’s school, Bailey Middle School, on Dec. 15.
Diana Cojocari and Palmiter each are charged with failure to report the disappearance of a child to law enforcement. Both are being held in the Mecklenburg County Detention Center. Police are now trying to figure out what happened to Madalina. The FBI and the State Bureau of Investigation are assisting with the search, police say.
