Norfolk Southern Chief Executive Alan Shaw will apologize on Thursday over the Feb. 3 derailment of a freight train in East Palestine, Ohio, and will pledge to improve safety and address impacts, according to written testimony seen by Reuters

"We won’t be finished until we make it right," Shaw says in written testimony ahead of his appearance before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. "I am deeply sorry for the impact this derailment has had on the people of East Palestine and surrounding communities." His testimony says that to date the railroad has committed to reimbursements and investments of more than $20 million.
