The 8% increase would increase the pay range from $53,286 to $116,293.

CEA president John Coneglio would not confirm to the Dispatch on the picket lines on Monday that an 8% wage increase is still what the union is asking for. On Aug. 18, the CEA and the district's last bargaining session before the union decided to strike, the district provided a proposal that touched on some of what the union was asking.Scenes from Columbus City Schools teacher strike.

In regards to pay, the district offered the union a 3% raise annually for three years, which would increase the pay range to $50,819 to $117,664. The offer also stated that the Board had contracted and/or already committed funds to install air conditioning in every school except for Mifflin Middle School. Mifflin has central air in about 50% of the building and is one of the schools to be replaced by a new middle school in the district's proposed facilities master plan., while six more are supposedly to be completed mid-to-late September, according to district spokesperson Jacqueline Bryant.
