EU says April 12 is final date for UK to approve Brexit deal as British PM May seeks last-minute Brexit breakthrough with opposition

Juncker spoke after British Prime Minister Theresa May announced on Tuesday evening that she would request a second Brexit delay beyond the current cliff-edge date of April 12. "The best way forward is the ratification of the Withdrawal Agreement," Juncker told the European Parliament. The United Kingdom was supposed to leave the EU last Friday, but three years after Britons narrowly voted for Brexit in a referendum, it is still unclear how, when or even whether it will exit the bloc.
