with him. During the trailer Maddie describes Percy as a “kid” who is “unf***able” and is shown encouraging him to go skinny dipping with her.Grooming is defined as befriending or establishing an emotional connection with a minor under the age of consent with the objective of having sexual relations with said child. While Percy’s character in the film is 19, so over the age of consent in the US which is 18, he is very much portrayed as a “child” in the film.
“It's grooming,” one Twitter user said, while another added: “I feel like a movie about grooming a 19 year old kid isn't the feel-good hit it would have been a few years ago.”“So wtf the movie is about a girl [who] gets punished for cheating on her husband then gets rewarded for basically grooming someone?” another person wrote.
“I'm sure there is probably a moral or greater story to this, I just don't see this movie doing well.
