Mitchell is one of the all-time great Stampeders. He is a two-time CFL most outstanding player, who is also the only quarterback to win two Grey Cups with the Stamps as a starter and the franchise’s all-time leader in passing yards, with 32,541. The 32-year-old was replaced by Jake Maier as the Stamps’ starter midway through the 2022 season. The team opted to re-sign Maier for two more years, opening the door for Mitchell’s departure.Article content
