Texas doubled its lead over the final three minutes of the first half, carrying a 22-point lead into the locker room following a 14-2 run. Freshman Arterio Morris closed that half with a last-second 3-pointer, one of a career-high five he hit on the night. With Morris leading the way, Texas posted one of its most efficient shooting performances in years while reaching the century mark for the first time since the 2017-18 season opener. The Longhorns hit 58.1 percent from the field, 54.5 percent from 3-point range and 94.1 percent from the free-throw line.
This marked the Longhorns’ third consecutive game without head coach Chris Beard, who is still suspended indefinitely without pay. Neither the University nor the athletic department have commented on Beard’s status since issuing a pair of statements last Monday after the second-year coach was arrested and charged with third-degree felony domestic assault.
