Nissan's thousands of job cuts come after profits fell sharply over the past two years

Nissan Motor Co. said it would cut 12,500 jobs globally by March 2023 as it struggles to recover from the turmoil following the arrest of former Chairman Carlos Ghosn in November.

Nissan Chief Executive Hiroto Saikawa is cutting costs as he seeks to overhaul the company’s U.S. business, where profits have fallen sharply over the past two years. The company employs about 140,000 people world-wide.
