Nigerian Dozy Mmobuosi is looking to buy the Sheffield club for around £90million amid the club’s recent transfer embargo. It is understood that the prospective buyer still needs to pass the EFL’s owners’ and directors’ test, but that ‘no problems have arisen’ so far. Mmobuosi is CEO of Tingo International Holdings, values last year at over £7billion. The businessman has also set up his own foundation in 2021 that aims to promote the progress of Africa and create an environment where Africans can thrive” where he focuses on improving education, healthcare and Information Technology development in his home country of Nigeria.
There is currently an embargo on United, who play at Brammall Lane, which made it impossible for them to buy some players in the January transfer window, but the club’s board is working on getting out of their problems. The embargo prevents them buying a player for the next 18 months unless they win promotion, was imposed because the Blades failed to keep up payment instalments on signings.
Sheffield United, who play at Bramall Lane, are pushing for a promotion into the Premier League, they are currently 12 points behind third-placed Middlesbrough having a game in hand. Promotion is very important to them because of the current Financial situation of the club.
