Nicola Thorp has offered her view on the ‘Cake Gate’ row involving her former Coronation Street co-star Catherine Tyldesley. It comes after a bakery was asked for a number of cakes for the star’s 40th birthday in exchange for ‘social media exposure’.
Rebecca Severs, who owns Three Little Birds Bakery in Keighley, West Yorkshire, declined the ‘opportunity’, in an e-mail clapback, writing that her staff ‘can’t feed their kids with exposure on Instagram’.
Nicola Thorp, who starred opposite Catherine in Corrie, discussed the situation during an appearance on The Talk on Wednesday , revealing that she ‘feels sorry’ for the baker as nobody should be expected to work without receiving payment.The Metro.co.uk columnist ‘It’s also not Cath’s fault,’ said Nicola. ‘Because she wasn’t aware of it and I believe that – because this is just how PR companies work.
