Nick Saban lost it on Saturday after a special teams blunder put No. 3 Alabama even further in a hole against No. 6 Tennessee on Saturday.
With 12:42 left in the first half and the Vols leading 21-10, the Tide forced a rare punting situation. On fourth and 3 from the Tennessee 32, the Vols punted. Kool-Aid McKinstry looked like he was going to field the punt, then decided against it. However, Quandarrius Robinson inexplicably tried to pick up the loose ball - not fall on it - and the Vols recovered the ball. It appears Robinson might have thought McKinstry had touched. Either way, he should’ve fallen on it, not tried to scoop it up and run with it.
“We played about as bad as we could play in the first half, especially on defense,” Saban told CBS at halftime. “A lot of penalties. A bad error on special teams to basically give them a score.”Nick Saban not happy after Alabama turns it over on special teams.
