As we prepare to say goodbye to 2022, the weather for the New Years period is set to be a mixed bag.

A few bright spells can be expected towards the North Coast, but heavier rain and hill snow will arrive in the evening. There will be light winds and a maximum temperature of 6 C. Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Helen Caughey said: "It’ll be an unsettled New Year weekend for much of the UK.
