The Royal College of Midwives has warned that staff shortages are contributing to burnout among staff, particularly after the pressures of the Covid-19 pandemic
Up to 500 are expected to take up posts in the next six months after moving from countries including Jamaica, Zimbabwe, Italy, India and the Philippines.Professor Jacqueline Dunkley-Bent, England’s Chief Midwifery Officer, said: “Almost from the moment the NHS was set up, internationally educated midwives, such as the Windrush generation, have been an important part of the midwifery family.
