The Metropolitan Police Service faces a grilling by the London Assembly over the force’s treatment of protesters during the coronation weekend connie_dimsdale reports
“The police officers told me that they did this because they had intelligence suggesting that I was going to commit a crime,” he said. “They never provided this intelligence to me in the 14 hours that I was in custody, despite asking for it, and they weren’t able to provide it to my solicitor either.”
Describing the arrest, Dr Naker said: “When the police swept in it was very clearly planned because they had more than enough officers arrest everyone that was there who was suspected of having committed a crime. “All we were doing was protesting the Government policy, which is to give out over 100 new oil and gas licences.”
