Michael Gove criticises Tory frontrunner Liz Truss' policies, which come under scrutiny in Saturday's papers.
Ex-cabinet minister Michael Gove has lent his support to Conservative leadership hopeful Rishi Sunak, writing in the Times that Liz Truss' campaign has been a "holiday from reality" and that her proposed tax cuts will put "the stock options of FTSE 100 executives" before the poorest. Mr Gove also announced he is stepping away from front-line politics.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail says the NHS has spent more than £1m on hundreds of what it labels "woke" staff networks. According to the paper, nearly 500 groups have been created by trusts across the UK, despite ministers calling for the health service to reduce "waste and wokery".Elsewhere, the Daily Express reports that the Channel migrant crisis could continue for five years or longer, citing a government report.
