The city agreed to drop its effort to place the Georgia King Village into receivership after good faith efforts to improve conditions

“There will always be problems,” said Mytris Roberts, 64, who moved into the complex in 2014. “I’m scared to hang stuff up because of water, water, water. I’m just tired, tired of the mess.” Gee Cureton, a spokesperson for Georgia King Village’s Tenants Association, acknowledged in a statement Friday that L + M had made improvements to the complex, including the original rat infestation.

The complaint had sought the appointment of a receiver to collect rent payments on Georgia King’s 422 units and use the funds to exterminate and keep out rodents, fix leaky pipes, remove mold and rotten plaster, paint walls and ceilings, and otherwise remedy substandard conditions cited by city inspectors in dozens of apartments.
