New York to sue the Trump admin. over its decision to bar New Yorkers from enrolling in Global Entry and other programs that allow travelers to pass quickly through airport security and customs.
Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf said New Yorkers would no longer be allowed to enroll or re-enroll in the Trusted Traveler Programs “because we no longer have access to make sure that they meet those program requirements.”
He said DHS did not need access to the state’s DMV records to determine if people should be allowed into such expedited travel programs. Cuomo also said more than a dozen states and Washington, D.C, have already passed laws similar to the New York law.“This is political retribution, plain and simple, and while the president may want to punish New York for standing up to his xenophobic policies, we will not back down,” she said in a statement.
