Samsung’s Galaxy Fold smartphones have not quite matched the features and specs of the flagship Galaxy S handsets. Until now.
Belgrade, Serbia - December 24, 2021: New Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G mobile cellphones are shown asPrevious Galaxy Fold models saw the camera specs downgraded when compared to the South Korean flagship Galaxy S handsets. This was done presumably to keep the bill of materials lower and to accommodate the hinge mechanisms in the Fold models.
With a redesigned handset, coupled with newer technology, Samsung can bring the presumptively named Galaxy Fold 4 up to the same optical specs as the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra, at least for the telephoto lens. Michel Groenheijde for“This concerns the 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, which is also in the S22, S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra .
"While it's likely that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will also be comparable to the Galaxy S22 in terms of other cameras - which features a 50MP main and a 12MP ultra-wide angle camera – we can't confirm that at this point."
