ONS has released new data
Research from the Office for National Statistics has revealed the happiest areas to live in Nottinghamshire. The Annual Population survey has found the average happiness rating for people living in each area of the county for 2021/22, which is rated on a scale of one to ten.
In an annual survey carried out by the Office for National Statistics between March 2021 and April 2022, people were asked to give their well-being a score in four different categories. These were: how satisfied they are with their lives, to what extent their daily lives are worthwhile, how happy they felt yesterday, and how anxious they felt yesterday, Derbyshire Live reports.
Residents of Rushcliffe, Ashfield and Broxtowe were found to be the happiest of those in the county, with an average happiness rating of 7.5. These ratings are all above the national average for England, which was found to be 7.45 for 2021/2022, up from 7.31 in 2020/21.Shortly behind is Gedling with an average rating of 7.4 for residents happiness. However, this is a large improvement to the district's rating last year of 6.5 which was the lowest for the county.
The average happiness rating for people in Bassetlaw was found to be 7.3, with residents in Newark and Sherwood and the city of Nottingham having an average happiness rating of 7.2. Mansfield is at the bottom of the list for Nottinghamshire, with an average happiness rating of 7, a noticeable decrease from the district's rating of 7.7 for 2020/21.
Nationally, the happiest place to live in the UK is Torridge, , while the unhappiest place is Colchester, in Essex - according to the ONS.
