Leeds United beat Watford 3-0 at Elland Road in the Championship on Saturday with goals from Joel Piroe, Sam Byram and Jaidon Anthony and here are some of the moments you may have missed
In the 13th minute, when Crysencio Summerville went over to take the first corner of the game, he was given a rapturous welcome by Leeds United's fans in the southeast corner of Elland Road, better known as the cheese wedge. In the 38th minute, in the aftermath of the Daniel James penalty shout, referee Jeremy Simpson picked up a missile which had landed on the pitch. Television replays showed it to look like a vape of some kind as he handed it over to the fourth official.
In the 93rd minute, with the match won and things winding down, a carnival atmosphere was descending on Elland Road. Daniel Farke played his part with a first touch that had most of the stadium on their feet. As the ball came flying towards the dugout, the German killed it dead with his right foot at the first time of asking. As he turned away, he kept his head down, but moved it to one side as if to say ‘not bad.’Wilfried Gnonto was at Elland Road on Saturday despite his injury. The Italy international was spotted on the field celebrating with his team-mates, but wearing a protective boot on the left leg he hurt at Hull City on Wednesday.
Farke would later confirm the teenager needs surgery and will be missing until after the next international break. In his post-match press conference, Farke spoke about Georginio Rutter’s quality display, but also how he must know where the line is and not embarrass fellow professionals on the opposition side. Well, not long after the full-time whistle, the manager and the striker could be seen having a post-match summit on the pitch.
