New details have emerged in the former Tampa Bay star's construction site injury.
Williams was working on a construction site in the Tampa area when a steel beam fell and struck him in the head. Williams father, Wendell Muhammad, wrote on a GoFundMe that his son had “swelling on his brain and swelling on his spinal cord that was ruptured.”
Muhammad did not cite the steel beam striking his son in the Sept. 1 post, but wrote that his son was experiencing “severe breathing problems and had to be rushed to the ICU.” Williams is a native of Buffalo who starred collegiately at Syracuse. He was taken in the fourth-round, 101st-overall, by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2010. He was a star for the Bucs across his first three seasons.
He caught 65 passes for 964 yards and 11 touchdowns as a rookie, and caught 65 more balls for 771 yards and three touchdowns in his second season.
