New hospital admittances of patients diagnosed with coronavirus infections fell under 1,000 in New York State for the first time in a month by lisettevoytko

New hospital admittances of patients diagnosed with coronavirus infections fell under 1,000 Monday in New York State, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a Tuesday press conference, the first time in a month that the hospitalization rate has dropped under that number.... [+]Cuomo said 953 people were hospitalized Monday, down from 1,052 on Sunday.

Cuomo provided more details for the state’s testing and contract tracing plan: there must be 30 tests conducted per 1,000 people, and 30 tracers for every 100,000 people. Cuomo said “danger signs” are if hospital capacities reach 70% or above, and the virus transmission rate exceeds one new infection per every person already sick with coronavirus.

New York will also need isolation facilities for people with coronavirus, Cuomo said, so that families of the sick do not also fall ill with the virus, among other possible outcomes."Every day I think maybe today is the day the nightmare will be over, but it's not," Cuomo said in reference to the state’s death toll. As of Tuesday, over 17,000 New Yorkers have died from the virus.May 15, when New York’s stay-at-home orders are set to expire.
