The WASPI campaign warns that ‘justice delayed is justice denied’ for women born in the 1950s.
The Women Against State Pension Inequality campaign has announced that over 250,000 women affected by State Pension age changes have died since their fight for justice began. WASPI research suggests that nearly four million women saw their retirement plans ‘plunged into chaos’ at the last minute, after the Department for Work and Pensions increased the State Pension age from 60 to 65, and later 66.
The WASPI campaign was formed in 2015 to campaign for fair and fast compensation, with some of the worst affected women only receiving a few months’ notice of a six-year delay to their State Pension. The PHSO has been investigating the DWP’s failure to communicate the rise in State Pension age to women for five years.
Angela Madden, Chair of the Women Against State Pension Inequality campaign, said: “For the 250,000 women who have died while waiting for this issue to be resolved, justice delayed is truly justice denied.
