A former social club in the shadow of HMP Preston is set for a new lease of life.Plans have been lodged to convert the old Jubilee Club in St Marys Street into a hand car wash and valet business as well as a hot food cafe.of the city, and has been closed since 2019.Proposals from Castle Homes Estates and Property Services state additional drainage works would be undertaken as part of converting the building and associated land.
Planning documents state: “Changing the use from a car hire business to a hand car wash and valeting business is an appropriate use of this site given the excellent existing infrastructure and good drainage. In addition, vehicles can safely access and egress from the site and the separation distances to the nearest residential dwellings are significant.
“The site has been vacant for many years and this change proposes to bring life back to a currently undesirable area of St Mary’s Street North.”
