MLB: Matt Davidson made a couple of mistakes in the Oakland A’s 5-1 loss to the Kansas City Royals on Friday.
OAKLAND – This wasn’t the way Matt Davidson wanted to introduce himself to A’s fans at the Coliseum.
After Bobby Witt Jr. singled to center to open the fifth inning, Davidson, starting at third base, couldn’t field a ground ball by Salvador Perez, putting runners on first and third base with no out. Witt later scored on a sacrifice fly as the Royals took a three-run lead. Overall, it was just a forgettable night for Davidson, who was signed by the A’s as a free agent on May 10 and selected from Triple-A Las Vegas on June 7.
