Season three’s first episodes will play at Ottawa’s animation fest this week on Thursday before Netflix debuts the final seven-part run in December.
The series is based on Luke Pearson’s graphic novels for older kids, which is published by Nobrow. Pearson and director Andy Coyle will appear at an Animation Exposé event during Ottawa to discuss the series’ art, Scandinavian folklore inspiration and classic comics, page-to-screen adaptation and the third season.
“While it is always tough to see the end of a series that has been so professionally gratifying, we are thrilled to showcase the latest epic adventures of our heroine Hilda in this final season at the Ottawa International Animation Festival and for audiences around the world to be entertained when the series premieres on Netflix later this year,” added Chantal Ling Vice President, Original Series & Co-Productions, Mercury Filmworks.
