Dallas Mavericks Luka Doncic is set to be named the NBA Live 20 cover athlete, according to sources with knowledge of the brand's plans.

If this information holds up, and I have every confidence it will, Doncic will be the first Mavericks player represented on the cover of a major NBA video game. That's hard to believe considering the long, Hall-of-Fame career of Dirk Nowitzki, which just ended this past season. Putting Doncic on the cover also makes sense because Live has been pushing a bit of an international feel with their in-game street hoops product. Their Live Run and The ONE modes feature some decked-out international courts in Brazil and other parts of the world. If EA is trying to grab a bigger piece of the international market with this decision, placing Doncic as the cover athlete is a smart move.
