How the national media reacted to Everton's 2-1 defeat to Luton Town in the Premier League at Goodison Park
Everton earned the infamous title of being the side to hand Luton Town their first ever Premier league win on Saturday.
Here’s what the national media, along with the ECHO’s Everton correspondent Joe Thomas, made of the miserable defeat at Goodison Park. “The duo, whose takeover plans must be agreed by the relevant authorities, were also treated to a slice of unwanted history as a fourth successive home league defeat from the beginning of a season equalled a black mark previously set in 1958-59.”
“The American investors have specialised in distressed business. They are in danger of inheriting a property condemned to the Championship. This result means Everton have lost their first four home league games for the first time in 64 years.” Dominic King for the Daily Mail wrote: “Rob Edwards sensed this would be the day and told his players accordingly: Goodison Park, he was adamant, would be the venue for Luton Town’s first top flight win since April 1992.
